‘Stop’: What Kyle Walker said about Arsenal to Saka after reporting for England duty

‘Stop’: What Kyle Walker said about Arsenal to Saka after reporting for England duty

After he checked in for England duty prior to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Kyle Walker told Arsenal striker Bukayo Saka “you guys need to stop winning.”

Arsenal have a five-point advantage over Walker’s Manchester City, who lost to Brentford on Saturday, in the Premier League table heading into the international break.

This season, Mikel Arteta’s squad has only dropped points in two games and are the surprise contenders for the title.

Typically, Liverpool is the one banging on the door, but north London is not knocking, but leading the pace.

Nonetheless, when Saka arrived at St George’s Park for England duty, he shook hands with Walker, who told him, “you guys need to stop winning,” to which Saka responded, “Don’t worry about that now,” as shown on England’s official YouTube account.

This break will undoubtedly benefit Pep Guardiola’s squad more than Arsenal’s, given Arsenal’s impressive start.

Those first few games back will be key because, if the Gunners can immediately get back on track, this race will become really intriguing.

Much will also depend on the course of events in Qatar.

Walker and Saka are anticipated to play key roles for Gareth Southgate’s squad, and if they return after an early exit, their confidence would be at an all-time low.

Likewise, if they perform admirably, they can carry this rhythm into the second half of the season.
