Spurs summer signing wants to return to former club
There are rumors that Ivan Perisic, the winger for Tottenham Hotspur, may leave the club after this season.
Antonio Conte, the Tottenham current manager, is also expected to leave when his contract ends, and Italian journalist Marco Barzaghi has suggested that Perisic could leave as well.
Barzaghi claims that Perisic wants to go back to Inter Milan, where he previously played, because he knows that Conte is unlikely to renew his contract with Tottenham and may have discussed this with his former teammates.
“He [Perišić] too would like to return, above all because he understood that Conte is leaving at the end of the season, and things could get even more complicated for him: He, like Hakimi himself, as they confide to his former teammates, would like to return. I don’t think Perišić expected such a modest adventure in the Premier League.”
Despite being 34 years old, Ivan Perisic has been a valuable player for Tottenham this season. He has been deployed as both a left-sided winger and wing-back by manager Antonio Conte, and has provided 9 assists in all competitions.
Although Perisic is under contract with Tottenham until 2024, it is uncertain whether the club will be willing to let him leave at the end of the season. Given his age and the fact that he was signed primarily at the request of Conte, there is a possibility that the club may allow him to leave if Conte departs in the summer.
There have been rumors that Antonio Conte may return to Italy in the summer, with Inter Milan as a possible destination. If he goes back to San Siro, he might want to bring Ivan Perisic back with him.
Tottenham, on the other hand, would prefer to keep Conte as their manager for the foreseeable future.
They have the option to extend his contract by one year, but this decision will depend on whether Conte is interested in staying at the Premier League club.
Losing a manager of Conte’s caliber would be a huge blow for any team, and it could have an impact on the futures of several players.
For example, Harry Kane has been linked with a departure from Tottenham, and if Conte leaves, Kane may feel that his chances of winning a trophy with Spurs have significantly diminished.
