Spurs not finished yet: Conte may be lining up a secret forward signing for Thursday

Paul Brown, a journalist for GiveMeSport, reported that Tottenham Hotspur could sign a mystery forward before the close of the summer transfer season.

Richarlison, a forward for Everton, was acquired by Spurs for a fee of $52.2 million this summer, marking the club’s first offensive acquisition.

Only Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool have scored more goals through the first four games of the season than they have.

Steven Bergwijn was sold to Ajax for £28.1 million, and Bryan Gil is seeking permission to join Valencia on loan.

Brown adds that by releasing players, Spurs have created openings and freed up finances.

Moreover, he believes Conte is ready to bringing in additional reinforcements for his frontline, but the identity of this individual is unknown.

“Getting rid of all of the players they have done will add room in the squad and take some salaries off the wage bill, but bear in mind at all of his clubs, Conte would always say, even if they weren’t in his plans, we need to replace him,” he tells GMS

“Conte always demands signings and while Spurs have made several, he’s never going to say no to getting another one in, so it wouldn’t surprise me if Spurs sign another forward.”

According to Fabrizio Romano, before Spurs allow Gil to leave for Valencia, they want to find a replacement, so it appears that this will be their primary emphasis.

Who, then, might Spurs target in order to complete their attacking roster?

There is also a “open” contest to sign Dan James, after Spurs inquired about a loan-to-buy deal with Leeds United last week.

With the £45 million permanent purchase for Cristian Romero, they have surpassed the £150 million threshold, placing them fourth in the Premier League for summer spending.

Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte’s continued pursuit of a potential ninth signing is indicative of their desire.
