‘So annoyed’ : Andy Gray shares what Liverpool manager did straight after half time whistle

During their 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Merseyside, Jurgen Klopp’s side looked a completely different team after the break.

Surprisingly, all four goals were scored during an enthralling second-half performance by both teams.

During a sluggish first 45 minutes in which Pep Guardiola’s side dominated, Liverpool did not play like Premier League title contenders.

But whatever Klopp said during the break clearly worked, and Andy Gray, speaking to BeIN Sport, describes what the German did as soon as he heard the half-time whistle, claiming that he sprinted down the tunnel after Paul Tierney blew up.

He told BeIN Sport:

“What has surprised me is Liverpool’s awful retention of the football. They’ve been really poor. I’m not surprised Klopp has run down that tunnel. I think he’ll be taking the paint off the walls in that dressing room. I think he’ll be so annoyed.”

Klopp is one of the sport’s most respected and decorated coaches for a reason, as evidenced by his performance tonight.

If Liverpool had played like they did in the first half, City, the reigning Premier League champions, would have continued to annihilate them.

However, the former Borussia Dortmund coach was astute enough to know where the Reds were second best – and, more importantly, respected enough among the players to ensure that his instructions were followed.

After Phil Foden cancelled out Sadio Mane’s opener, Mo Salah thought he had found the winner with a sublime solo goal.

Guardiola, on the other hand, isn’t bad at this coaching thing, and Kevin de Bruyne saved a point for the visitors late on.
