Sky Sports journalist delivers claim that’ll thrill Arsenal fans

Although it is early in the season, Arsenal has had a fantastic season thus far, as evidenced by their position atop the Premier League table.

The Gunners were top of the table prior to this gameweek, but Mikel Arteta’s team will reclaim the top spot today if they defeat Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal has won seven of their first eight games in what is shaping up to be a thrilling season.

Gabriel Jesus, a £45 million summer signing from Manchester City, has played a significant role in the North Londoners’ recent success.

Even if it isn’t this season, Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth believes Arsenal are only one quality signing – another Jesus, for example – away from being the real deal in England once more.

Sheth told Give Me Sport: “Whether they can be title challengers this season, I don’t know.

“But make no mistake about it, if they continue on this trajectory and they continue to get their recruitment right, the likes of Gabriel Jesus, what a signing he’s turned out to be, then why can’t they be title challengers in the not too distant future?”

Arsenal hasn’t won the Premier League in 18 years, so Sheth’s comments will no doubt excite the Gunners’ fanbase.

And, to be honest, he’s probably right.

In fact, if Arteta has a good run of luck with injuries, what’s to stop them from challenging City this season?

Victory over the Reds would put Arsenal 14 points ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s side – currently 10th in the Premier League table – and with them effectively out of the equation in that event, who’s to say the Spanish manager can’t keep his team going?
