“Shame on you. Worst ref ever,” Kovacic slams referee after 2-5 mauling by West Brom.

Chelsea’s unbeaten run came to an end at Stamford Bridge after they were swept away 2-5 in an empathic fashion by relegated threatened West Brom on Saturday.

Chelsea took the lead through Cristian Pulisic’s excellent reaction, but things changed after Silva was sent off just before half an hour mark.

Having picked early booking inside five minutes for pulling back West Brom player Matheus Pereira, Silva found himself in trouble after launching himself in front of Yokuslu shot but instead clattered into the player. This left the referee an option of brandishing him a second yellow card and a marching order from the rest of the game.

The blues were unable to hold on to their lead to halftime as two quick strikes from Pereira ensured that the host trailed 2-1 by halftime.

Chelsea were unable to regain their composure and turn the tide as they found themselves 4-1 down after two counter-attacks.

Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic got furious and was booked by referee Coote after he made a poor tackle. His disagreement with the ref’s decision was clear as he was seen shouting loudly in the ref’s direction.

According to Adam Newson, a Chelsea correspondent as reported by Football.london, the Croatian words to Coote were: “Shame on you. Yeah, yeah, well done. Worst ref ever,”

The men’s spirited fight was not enough to earn them any point. Mason Mount tapped in to put the game at 2-4 but it is the Baggies who had the final laugh after Callum Robinson’s late strike ensured a 2-5 victory for West Brom.
