Shakhtar chief says they will buy Mykhailo Mudryk back as star is unhappy after joining Chelsea instead of Arsenal

Shakhtar Donetsk’s Darijo Srna says that Mykhailo Mudryk, who signed for Chelsea in January for about £89 million and snubbed Arsenal, is not feeling great.

The 22-year-old has not had a good start with the club, failing to score or provide an assist. Chelsea has also been struggling to score goals lately, with just one goal in their last five games.

According to Srna, the Shakhtar Donetsk chief, Mudryk is facing difficulties at Chelsea, but Srna also believes that Mudryk has the potential to become one of the top players in the Premier League, given his impressive qualities.

He told Football Ramble: “The market decided the price, not me or our president. Mudryk is one of the best players in Europe in his position after Mbappe or Vinicius then it’s Mudryk.

“If someone wants to buy a player from Shakhtar they must respect us. We know how to sell players and how to buy players. He’s from our academy, an amazing kid, an amazing player.

“Unfortunately, at Chelsea now he’s not in a good mood, Mykhaylo as well, but he has all the qualities to be one of the best players in the Premier League in the next couple of years.”

In a humorous statement, Srna suggested that Shakhtar Donetsk could repurchase Mudryk from Chelsea by saying, “It’s not a problem, we will buy him back after the war. We will buy him back after the war.” He also mentioned that Mudryk’s decision to join Chelsea over Arsenal was his own personal choice.

“The price was €100m, €70m+30m. Arsenal was fully loving Mudryk but Chelsea showed they were more concrete & ready to buy him. With respect to Arsenal, at the end of the day it was the decision of Misha [Mudryk],” he added.
