‘Secret meeting’ – Manchester United place €100m+ proposal on the table, transfer increasingly possible
According to La Repubblica, Napoli player Victor Osimhen has a ‘temptation’ to join Manchester United in the summer.
This season, the striker has been in excellent form for the Serie A club, scoring 16 goals and providing five assists in 26 games.
His performances have piqued the interest of clubs all around Europe, including Manchester United.
The 23-year-old and his Italian agent, Roberto Calenda, are said to have held a’secret meeting’ with the Naples club’s chairman, Aurelio De Laurentiis, yesterday afternoon.
‘On the table’, there was an ‘undeniable bid’ of ‘over €100m’ from Manchester United for the Nigeria international. There are other sides in the picture to sign the ex-Lille man, but the Old Trafford club have put themselves ‘in an advantageous position in the auction’.
The report further adds ‘there is a player’s appreciation’ for the Premier League and the chances of him staying at Napoli beyond this season seem to be slim.
According to La Repubblica, Osimhen wants to assist Luciano Spalletti’s team qualify for the Champions League, ‘then he will be free to seek his fortune in the fabled “Reds.”
In other words, he would like to leave Napoli and then join Manchester United.
Various reports in Italy said at the start of this year that Napoli turned down a large bid from Newcastle United for Osimhen in the region of €100 million.
The statistics keep changing, and now a proposal from United worth more than €100 million is being explored in Italy.
At this point, it appears that De Laurentiis and his club are attempting to negotiate the best deal for their star, as they did with Kalidou Koulibaly in the past.
