Marcel Brands, the director of football of PSV, has discussed what transpired with Gakpo over the summer, when many Premier League clubs were interested in signing him.
One of these clubs was Manchester United, who met with the Dutch team to discuss the prospect of signing him for Old Trafford.
Brands stated that United failed to submit an official offer for the forward’s services following the meeting. The total amount discussed was approximately £44 million.
Romano adds that the Red Devils remain interested in signing Gakpo in the near future, as they view him as one of the best young footballers in the world.
However, the circumstances surrounding the 23-year-future old’s has changed since he is no longer as eager to leave his club as he was at the end of the summer transfer season.
Romano has also alleged that the Dutch forward was eager to join the Red Devils in the summer and had already agreed to the move before they reneged due to the transfer agreement with Ajax for Antony.
After witnessing his incredible start to the season, PSV are unlikely to let him depart anytime soon, according to the source.
