A principal stated that his school’s name will be changed permanently to Harry Kane Junior School if England wins the World Cup, and that it will take the Tottenham striker’s moniker during the competition.

Gregory Hill, the principal of Howard Junior School in King’s Lynn, Norfolk, stated, “from Monday onwards we’re going to be the Harry Kane Junior School”.

In a social media post, the school’s customary emblem on the uniform was replaced with a new one featuring a photograph of the prolific England forward.

“This is our official school badge on Monday,” said Mr Hill.

“Howard has gone, Harry Kane is in, we’re right behind England, we’re going to make sure that England wins the World Cup through all our cheer and good spirits as well.”

He continued: “If England win, we’re changing our name permanently to Harry Kane Junior School.”

Mr. Hill stated that Kane is “an outstanding role model for pupils” and that football is about “learning about diverse cultures and respect.”

Monday at 1pm, students are permitted to watch the Three Lions’ opening encounter against Iran, according to the school’s principal.

“It’s not just a football match – the World Cup is about education – notwithstanding the geography and cultural lifestyles of the different nations”, Mr Hill said, “it’s also about teamwork and good sportsmanship.”

As the school is an academy, he stated that he would not require permission to permanently change the school’s name should Gareth Southgate’s team win the title.
