“Saved our ar**” – Jurgen Klopp singles out Liverpool player for special praise after ‘wild’ game vs Manchester City
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp lauded goalkeeper Alisson Becker’s performance in his team’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Sunday.
The Brazilian star was outstanding, making many eye-catching saves as Liverpool held off multiple Manchester City onslaught.
The Brazilian made a crucial save in the first half to keep the Reds in the game, stopping Gabriel Jesus after City had broken on the counter.
Following the game, Klopp talked to Sky Sports and praised his goalie for his part in keeping his team in the game.
He stated (as reported by Anfield Watch):
“What a game. Wild.
“City’s counter-attacking is not bad at all. They are really smart. Ali saved our ar** [for the counter-attacking chance] there.”

The Premier League may make the case that it has the best goalkeeper lineup in Europe.
There are many brilliant players in the English Premier League, and Alisson may be the best of them.
While Manchester City’s Ederson made some questionable decisions and was too timid to save Diogo Jota’s first-half effort, Alisson thrived.
Many consider the Brazilian combination to be the two best Premier League goalkeepers, and they certainly have a case.
Alisson:

“I’m there for everything, I’m prepared for that. I play for Liverpool, a big team who plays more on the opposite side of the field, always attacking more than the opponents and creating more chances. I need to be ready.” #awlive [lfc] pic.twitter.com/R1DGivCzMj
Alisson has virtually won all of Liverpool’s honours since arriving from Serie A heavyweights Roma in 2018.
In his first season at the club, he won the UEFA Champions League. He would win the Premier League the following season.
This season, the Brazilian has already won the Carabao Cup.
If Liverpool beat Manchester City next Saturday and win the FA Cup in May, he will have won every trophy available in English football.
Not only is his prize collection spectacular, but he has made a significant contribution to the defensive improvements at Anfield since his arrival.
Liverpool has conceded fewer goals per game and saved more shots per goal conceded since Alisson joined in 2018.
Under Klopp, the Brazilian international has evolved into one of the world’s best goalkeepers, having previously established himself at Roma.
The £56.25 million cost paid to entice him away from Roma has more than paid for itself, with the goalkeeper being a vital contributor in Liverpool’s recent success.
