Sadio Mane’s passionate response to Mohamed Salah’s following his emotional departure from Liverpool
Sadio Mane has written a farewell message to former Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah following his £35 million move to Bayern Munich.
Mane’s transfer to the Bundesliga champions was announced on Wednesday. The Reds will pay a set fee of €32 million (£27.4 million) plus €9 million (£7.7 million) in add-ons for the forward.
Soon after the agreement was revealed, Salah wrote an emotional message to his strike partner.
The Egyptian said: “It’s been quite a ride! Thank you for all the good times and I wish you all the best in your new adventure! You will be missed by all of us.”
Ever the gentleman, Mane responded. “Keep doing your things. Brother you are the best,” said the Senegalese, who has become Liverpool’s 14th leading goalscorer after scoring 120 times in 260 games.
During his six years at Anfield, Mane forged a lethal trio with Salah and Roberto Firmino, winning the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup, as well as the FA Cup and Carabao Cup this season.
“He leaves with our appreciation and our love,” Reds manager Jurgen Klopp said of the former Southampton forward. He leaves with his place among the greats assured. And, certainly, he goes at a time when he is one of the finest players in the world.
Reds manager Jurgen Klopp heaped praise on the former Southampton attacker, saying: “He leaves with our gratitude and our love. He leaves with his status among the greats guaranteed. And, yes, he leaves in a moment where he is one of the best players in world football.
“But we must not dwell on what we now lose, instead celebrate what we were privileged to have. The goals he scored, the trophies he won; a legend, for sure, but also a modern-day Liverpool icon.”
