Nuno Tavares had a difficult night for Arsenal last night.

Arsenal were defeated 4-0 at home by Liverpool, effectively denting their chances of qualifying for the Champions League.

Mikel Arteta made a big statement ahead of the game by starting Tavares at left back instead of the more experienced Kierney.

And, to be honest, the gamble backfired on the Gunners’ owner.

That’s because Tavares had a relatively poor game and made a series of terrible passes, one of which directly resulted in Jurgen Klopp’s team scoring a goal.

The 21-year-old, who Arsenal paid £7 million for this summer, looked devastated after the game.

In what appeared to be a very sad moment for the youngster, he was hunched over in disappointment, but fans of the North London club rallied in support of their boy despite his performance.

Here’s how Arsenal supporters reacted to the video:

Tavares’s performances like this are unavoidable.

It was only his fourth Premier League start since joining Arsenal from Benfica, and Arteta had started him because he had looked absolutely brilliant in recent weeks.

This is just a learning curve for the player, and as long as he uses it as motivation to improve, he’ll be fine in English football.
