Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland, and Cristiano Ronaldo are Roy Keane’s top three current Premier League players.

The Manchester United  legend was interviewed on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football about a variety of topics, including his favorite players from the English Premier League.

While choosing his former United teammate Ronaldo was predictable, few expected him to name the Manchester City duo among his top players, but Keane had his reasons.

Keane explained his choices as follows:

“De Bruyne, Haaland and Ronaldo.

“De Bruyne obviously plays in midfield and what he does week in, week out consistently is fantastic.

“You see what Haaland has done already. We know he’s new to the Premier League but it’s amazing what he can achieve over the next few years, particularly when you’re playing in a really good team like City and playing under Pep.

“Then you have to give Ronaldo credit after scoring against Everton to make it 700 goals in career. Amazing.”

Haaland’s inclusion comes as no surprise given his 20 goals in 13 appearances since joining City in the summer, while De Bruyne has consistently impressed since arriving at the Etihad Stadium in 2015.

Carragher was asked the same question, and while he agreed with Keane on two of his choices, he also made room for one Liverpool player in particular.

He said: “Kevin De Bruyne has been the best player in the league for four or five years.

“You’ve also got to say Haaland now, he’s a global superstar.

“Despite his form this season, I’m still going to say Virgil van Dijk because I think he’s been absolutely amazing over the last four or five years and has absolutely transformed Liverpool from where they were when he came in to where they’ve been the last few years.”

Asked how he’s performed this year, Carragher said: “It hasn’t been great but I’m not going to judge him on eight games when he’s been amazing for five years.”
