Ronaldinho has already informed Todd Boehly why Chelsea must defeat Arsenal to £59m ideal transfer

Ronaldinho appears to have directed Chelsea’s attention to Rafael Leao ahead of the forthcoming transfer window.

The 22-year-old has been extensively linked with a transfer away from AC Milan this summer after a string of excellent performances helped the Italian giants win their first Scudetto in eleven years.

This season, he has appeared in 33 Serie A games for Stefano Pioli’s side, directly contributing to 18 goals.

Leao, whose contract at the San Siro expires in June 2024, has apparently been courted by Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta wanting to boost his frontline following the departures of Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette.

According to La Repubblica, Newcastle United and Paris Saint-Germain have emerged as the most notable suitors in the hunt to sign the forward.

According to the source, either side is willing to treble the salaries of the Portugal international ahead of a possible transfer in the coming weeks.

Milan are reported to be eager to retain Leao’s services and are willing to table a new contract in order to deter interest.

Leao, who has a CIES Football Observatory valuation of roughly £59 million, has earned the rush of interest with brilliant displays for Milan — so much so that all-time great Ronaldinho has labelled the youngster as “one of the best” players around.

In an interview with DAZN, the former Rossoneri lavished admiration on the Portuguese winger.

“Leao is one of the best now,” Ronaldinho said. “I see him and I like him a lot, he’s one of the best today.”

Todd Boehly, who has agreed to acquire Chelsea for £4.25 billion, is likely to ‘push for A-list signings’ to usher in a new era at Stamford Bridge, according to the MailOnline.

And, while Leao has apparently not courted the Blues’ interest since 2018, when he initially emerged onto the scene as an 18-year-old rough diamond in the Sporting academy, it should be in Thomas Tuchel’s best interests to renew the west London club’s excitement.

Chelsea are looking for a dynamic, borderline elite-level wide-man who can play both as an inside forward and as a classic touchline-hugging winger.

Leao should be the Blues’ leading candidate; he’s in the 95th percentile of all players in his position across Europe for dribbles completed, a superb progressive carrier, frequently finds himself in the box, good in the air, has a fair number of non-penalty goals, and will excite supporters.

Leao plays on the left wing for Milan most of the time in a 4-2-3-1 formation, where he is required to operate out wide and in the inside pockets with target man Olivier Giroud in the side.

The 22-year-old would be a terrific addition to Tuchel’s squad, whether he’s used in a new-look 4-3-3 or the traditional 3-4-2-1 formation.
