Riyad Mahrez gives Jack Grealish a severe warning of his biggest Man City problem.
Riyad Mahrez is making it clear to Pep Guardiola that he does not expect to be shifted from the Manchester City starting XI, even if they do bring in English football’s first £100million player.
The 30-year-old was considered to be a player who could be moved on this summer to boost the funds for the hunt of Jack Grealish and Harry Kane.
But Mahrez himself dropped such talk by pledging himself to the Blues ’ cause, and has underlined that by starring in pre-season.
He does not seem to be directly endangered if City get Grealish over the line next week, as the Aston Villa man has rarely played on the right-hand side – although it rarely pays to guess at Guardiola’s intentions.
But the knock-on effect would suggest that Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva – if the Portugal international stays – could all shift to the right, where Mahrez dominated supreme in the run-in last season.

Mahrez is making it clear he is still the main man as the Blues head into a difficult start to the season in jeopardy of being uncooked.
After a quiet summer, with Algeria not involved in any international competitions, and after two weeks of solid preseason work, he reminded everyone of the form which made him a cert start towards the end of last season.
In a one-sided first half, his understanding left foot teed up Edozie for the opener, opened up the defense for Joao Cancelo to assist Knight’s second, and then crowned all of that with a stunning volleyed finish.
Jack Grealish may be a £100m player but on this showing Mahrez must be worth something close!
Leicester were asking £95m for the former Player of the Year when City first went in for him, a cost that the Blues fired as nonsense, and walked away from. They returned six months later and snapped him up for £60m, a bargain in retrospect.
