Richarlison posts Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli meme following NLD clash

Richarlison took to Instagram after his altercation with fellow Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli during Sunday’s north London derby.

Martinelli extended his hand towards Richarlison while taking a second-half Arsenal corner kick.

Richarlison, who entered the match with 20 minutes remaining, blanked his fellow countryman.

On an otherwise dismal day for Spurs fans, who witnessed their team lose 2-0 to Premier League leaders Arsenal for the first time in their new stadium, this incident at least provided them with a reason to smile.

Richarlison’s cameo was eventful, as he confronted Aaron Ramsdale at the final whistle, shortly before a Tottenham fan kicked the Arsenal goalkeeper.

Richarlison, speaking to ESPN after the game, apologized to Martinelli for ignoring him but also explained his decision.

“I’d like to apologise to Martinelli,” Richarlison told ESPN. “I told him he was diving a lot, so I didn’t shake his hand.

“Also, with Gabriel Magalhaes, I told him they were stopping play all the time. I just said, ‘let’s play’.”

What Richarlison has posted about Martinelli on Instagram

On his Instagram story, Richarlison has now posted a meme of himself and Martinelli.

The Photoshopped image depicts the two Brazilians wearing a’t-shirt of friendship’ shirt which has the following message written on it: “T-shirt of union. If you fight, you must wear it. Apologise. Hug it out. Say ‘I love you’.

In case you were wondering, this is a Brazilian meme that originated when a mother forced two children to wear the t-shirt in question after a fight.

Clearly, this is Richarlison’s way of repeating his apology to his friend.
