Revealed: Ten Hag has discussed a possible Man United transfer swoop for “incredible talent”
Erik ten Hag “appreciates” Ajax winger Antony, who has been identified as a potential summer target in Manchester United’s internal transfer discussions.
According to Fabrizio Romano’s newest exclusive CaughtOffside blog, Antony would be a terrific signing for Manchester United or any other big team if he moved this summer.
Antony has shone at Ajax and appears to be ready for the next step in his career, however Romano has knocked down recent reports that talks to bring the Brazilian to Old Trafford are already beginning.
“Antony is a player appreciated by Erik ten Hag and certainly mentioned in internal conversations with the club this summer,” Romano says.
“In my opinion, even if Sancho, Rashford and Elanga are already in the club, Antony would be an excellent signing for United or anyone else: he is an incredible talent who can make a difference.”
Romano clearly admires Antony, but it’s understandable that he doesn’t appear to be a target for the Red Devils right now.
The 22-year-old is undoubtedly worth watching, but United clearly need a centre striker rather than another wide forward, given that they already have some promising players in that position, including the aforementioned Sancho, Rashford, and Elanga.
Still, this appears to be one to monitor in the near future, as Ten Hag is likely to be eager to work with his former player again if the opportunity arises.
