Revealed: Arteta want Arsenal to sign 24-year-old more than any other player in the world

Dean Jones, a journalist, commented on Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta’s pursuit of West Ham United star Declan Rice this summer.

The Gunners have made him their primary transfer target (Guardian). They believe they can sign him, and he would be a phenomenal acquisition.

Jones has disclosed his knowledge of Arsenal’s interest.

In the January transfer window, Arsenal was desperate for a new midfielder.

Moises Caicedo of Brighton and Hove Albion was their top target, but despite two massive bids (Sky Sports), they were unable to convince the Seagulls to change their position.

Mikel Arteta approved a move to sign Jorginho in the end, but the Italian is already 31 years old and has signed a contract for only 18 months. Clearly, he is a temporary solution, and it is almost certain that they will acquire a new midfielder this summer.

Arsenal have been linked with a number of players in recent weeks, but Jones believes that Arteta and Edu would choose Declan Rice over any other midfielder in the world.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “Declan Rice is the one that they would love and the one that they would choose above anybody else.”

Arsenal are fully justified in pursuing Rice as a transfer target.

The Englishman has the versatility to play in the positions of both Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey, and he has the potential to be a top-notch replacement for either player in the long term.

He is skilled with the ball, has a great understanding of the Premier League, and under a coach like Arteta, he could develop into one of the best midfielders in the world. Additionally, Rice is still only 24 years old and has yet to reach his prime, meaning he will only continue to improve in the coming years.

It will be intriguing to see if Arsenal can successfully complete this transfer in the summer. If they do, they may very well be contenders for the Premier League title next season.
