Report: Chelsea propose £65m plus bonuses for Tuchel’s first-choice transfer target

According to  Calciomercato, Chelsea has made a second offer for Juventus centre-back Matthijs de Ligt, with the Italian club aiming to reach a deal by next week.

According to the Italian publication, Chelsea and Juventus’ talks have progressed to the next stage.

The Blues had previously proposed a player-plus-cash deal, but Juventus wants a cash-only deal for De Ligt.

According to Calciomercato, after turning down Bianconeri’s new contract offer, it became evident that the 22-year-old wanted to leave the club this summer for football reasons rather than financial ones.

Chelsea is the frontrunner to sign the Dutch international, but they are not alone.

Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, and even Paris Saint-Germain are said to be keeping a close eye on the issue.

Chelsea have  reportedly offered Juventus between €70 million (£60 million) and €75 million (almost £65 million) plus bonuses for De Ligt.

According to the source, such an offer is unlikely to satisfy Juventus, who initially insisted on clubs paying the player’s €120 million release clause, although talks between the two clubs are still ongoing.

An earlier rumour in Italy claimed that Juventus anticipated Chelsea to agree to a transaction of £70-75 million.

Fortunately for Chelsea, Juventus is apparently looking to close the potential deal as soon as possible, maybe to allow them more time to find a replacement.
