Report: Antonio Conte could carry £16m Tottenham loanee with him, if he makes Inter Milan return

According to Italian outlet CMW, Antonio Conte might bring Tottenham player Clement Lenglet with him to Inter Milan in the summer if he decides to return to the Nerazzurri.

However, this would only be possible if Lenglet chooses not to sign permanently with Spurs since he is currently on loan without a permanent clause.

Lenglet has been an essential part of Tottenham’s squad this season, playing 27 games and displaying his adaptability in Conte’s back three.

However, Lenglet’s loan agreement will expire in the summer, and as things stand, he will return to Barcelona.

SPORT reports that Barcelona is interested in selling Lenglet, and if Conte leaves Tottenham, it could hamper their chances of signing him permanently, assuming they had any plans to do so.

Lenglet has emerged as a standout signing for Tottenham in the 2022-23 season, outshining Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Pedro Porro, Arnaut Danjuma, and Ivan Perisic.

Although Destiny Udogie is impressing on loan, and Fraser Forster has also put in some strong performances, Lenglet’s consistency in his 27 appearances makes him a strong candidate for the club’s best signing.

Given his modest price tag of £16m, Lenglet is undoubtedly a bargain, and Tottenham should make every effort to retain him.

If the club fails to secure Alessandro Bastoni or Josko Gvardiol, a move for Lenglet at such a low price would be a sensible alternative. However, the allure of playing under Conte at Inter Milan may prove tempting for the French defender.
