Report: Another key Tottenham star is out vs Liverpool after Son Heung-min update
Tottenham defender Cristian Romero will miss Saturday’s match against Liverpool due to a “minor muscular strain.”
This has been a difficult time for Romero.
The Argentinian missed the home loss to Newcastle United before returning last week for the Champions League match against Sporting.
Tottenham supporters hoped that would be the end of it, but Romero missed games against Bournemouth and Marseille.
It is now evident that Romero’s injury is more serious than anticipated, and he may not return to action before the World Cup.
According to TyC Sports in Romero’s home Argentina, the Tottenham defender has had a “minor muscular injury.”
Romero will reportedly be sidelined for 10 days, meaning he will miss this weekend’s match against Liverpool.
Son Heung-min required surgery for a cracked eye socket, as it was reported late on Wednesday.
Tottenham will likely be without Son, Romero, Dejan Kulusevski, and Richarlison against Liverpool.
These are colossal misses for Tottenham, but the Argentinian press does not appear to be very concerned.
TyC express “relief” because Romero will not have to play in the Premier League prior to departing for the World Cup with Argentina.
On December 12th, Tottenham’s final game before the World Cup break is against Leeds United.
Romero would have to be rushed back for that game, and he appears to have played his final Premier League game before the break.
Antonio Conte will feel cursed after losing Son and Romero for such a crucial match against Liverpool, and he must now decide how to replace the defence.
Lately, Davinson Sanchez has been subpar, and as a result, Eric Dier has moved to play right centre back with Clement Lenglet.
Dier’s speed is not ideal for that position, but he may have to play there against Liverpool if Sanchez continues to struggle.
