Real Madrid considering Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta as a potential Ancelotti replacement
According to reports by Tomas Gonzalez-Martin via Remontada Blanca, the tensions between Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid President Florentino Perez have escalated to the point where the team is searching for a potential replacement.
As a result, current Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is being considered as a strong candidate for the position.
Recent reports suggest that Perez has expressed dissatisfaction with some of Ancelotti’s recent decisions. One major issue is Perez’s belief that Ancelotti is not giving enough opportunities to players like Marco Asensio and Dani Ceballos.
Additionally, Perez has told Ancelotti to reduce his reliance on Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, both of whom are aging. However, this demand is interesting given that it comes just days after it was reported that Ancelotti sees these two midfielders as the foundation of his team.
Real Madrid has been facing difficulties in the La Liga title race this season and currently trails the league leaders by nine points. Furthermore, the team is also behind in the Copa del Rey semi-finals. If Ancelotti fails to turn the team’s results around, there is a high likelihood that he will be asked to leave.
As a result, Madrid is preparing a succession plan, and Mikel Arteta has emerged as a top candidate for the job.
Mikel Arteta has made a significant impact on Arsenal’s fortunes in a short period, leading them to a five-point lead at the top of the Premier League standings.
Over his three-year managerial career with Arsenal, he has won 97 out of 166 games across all competitions, drawing 25 and losing 44.
Arteta has built a talented and youthful team that plays an attractive and attacking style of football, which has garnered admiration from outside, including Real Madrid’s leadership. However, convincing him to leave Arsenal will be a challenging task.
