Arsenal may have to act quickly this summer if they want to sign Christopher Nkunku, with RB Leipzig apparently scheduling a “secret meeting” with the midfielder’s agent to discuss a new contract.

Edu’s first aim this summer is to strengthen Arsenal’s offensive options.

Alexandre Lacazette is out of favor at Arsenal as the season comes to a close, with the Frenchman ready to leave as a free agent.

According to reports, the club is still hoping to persuade Eddie Nketiah to sign a new contract, although signing at least one forward will be the club’s first objective during the summer transfer window.

Arsenal failed to sign Dusan Vlahovic in January as the club sought a successor for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Arsenal was unable to provide regular Champions League football, so Juventus won the battle for the Serbia international’s signing.

That might all change this summer, with the Gunners now sitting in fourth position with only a few games remaining.

Qualifying for next year’s Champions League would offer Arsenal a major boost in their transfer window goals, and Nkunku is allegedly on their list.

The 24-year-old has had a spectacular season in front of goal, scoring 31 goals and giving 20 assists across all competitions.

His ability to play everywhere on the frontline has piqued the interest of clubs all around Europe, and Leipzig will surely receive some approaches this summer.

However, according to Bild, the Bundesliga club is battling to keep Nkunku at the club, with a’secret meeting’ taking place with the forward’s agent, Pini Zahavi.

Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff is said to have stated that the club does not want to sell Nkunku and wants to begin talks on a new contract.

The Frenchman’s current deal includes a £50 million release clause, although it does not take effect until 2023.

Any new contract would almost certainly include a fresh exit clause, with Leipzig eager to prolong his present term, which expires in 2024.
