Raphinha to Chelsea transfer: Personal terms improved, an agreement reached, Barcelona issue

Chelsea were supposed to be one of the busiest clubs in the Premier League this summer, but after more than a month, no new faces have arrived.

However, an influx could be on the way.

As Todd Boehly tries to catch up in the transfer window, a number of notable players have been associated with moves, including Matthijs de Ligt, Raheem Sterling, and even Cristiano Ronaldo.

Raphinha, a Leeds winger, is one name that remains high on the radar at Stamford Bridge.

With that in mind,SportsDias gives you the most recent developments in the saga.

Chelsea still lead in Raphinha’s pursiut

Concerns have grown in west London about the pursuit of Raphinha following suggestions of a Barcelona comeback.

The Brazilian prefers a move to the Camp Nou, but they are unlikely to be able to meet Leeds’ asking price.

Fabrizio Romano revealed that Chelsea is still the only team that has had a bid approved for the player, putting them in the lead.

Chelsea Raphinha’s agreement reached

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have reached an agreement with Jesse Marsch’s side to sign the winger this summer.

The 25-year-old midfielder has been extensively linked with a transfer away from the Yorkshire club, with Arsenal and Barcelona both apparently interested.

The Blues appear to be the first team to make a breakthrough in talks with Leeds.

The Gunners are thought to be the only other team to have lodged a bid so far, but their efforts have been futile after falling short of the valuation.

Barcelona Raphinha’s transfer problem

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona approached Leeds on June 29 with the intention of making a new proposal following talks with agent Deco about a move.

However, the verbal offering does not match the rumoured £60 million given by the Blues, with the Yorkshire club preferring to maintain the current deal.

Raphinha’s transfer fee revealed

According to  The Athletic,Chelsea and Leeds are close to reaching an agreement for a fee in excess of £55 million for Raphinha, although the deal has not yet been finalised.

According to the article, the west Londoners are now the club and player’s long-term favourites.

Barcelona cannot afford him at the current asking price, and Arsenal cannot either.

Raphinha’s contract admission

Raphinha has been tight-lipped on his future at Elland Road, insisting that it is entirely up to his agent Deco and the Yorkshire club.

“I have a contract with Leeds until 2024. My future is in the hands of Deco and Leeds,” he said while on international duty with Brazil.

“I have my mind set on the national team, on the game and also on my vacations. I have a contract with Leeds, and this issue is resolved by my agent. When there is something, he will tell me.”

Boehly transfer plan

According to Fabrizio Romano, Boehly wants to move quickly in negotiations in order to “avoid problems.”

Tuchel wants two wingers this summer, therefore the co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers is planning a second bid for Raheem Sterling.
