Raphael Varane posts first online message speculating impending £42million Manchester United move

Raphael Varane has shown his dedication to being ready for the upcoming Premier League season with new suitors Manchester United by posting a brief training session online.

The former Real Madrid defender has kept silent about his imminent £42million transfer to Old Trafford, despite the Red Devils validating the deal themselves almost two weeks ago.

But that all changed with an Instagram post from Varane on Sunday, in which he can be seen doing kick-ups in a garden.

Tellingly, his location is clearly stated as ‘Manchester, United Kingdom’ with a subtitle underneath it saying ‘quarantine practice!’

Varane is currently having to quarantine due to the British government’s overseas travel Covid-19 rules but is set to be revealed at United as soon as his isolation is over.

The 28-year-old World Cup-winning center-back has long been one of United’s top targets.

Varane’s deal at the Bernebeu was set to lapse next summer, meaning United got him for a price well below what his market value would have been 12 months previously.

Varane – a four-time Champions League winner and three-time LaLiga champion – adds much-needed expertise to United’s defense and a solid partner for £80m centre-half Harry Maguire.

However, it will be a race against time for Varane to feature in United’s opening Premier League game against Leeds United on August 14.
