IFFHS has released the latest ranking Ranking of the Top 10 Best European clubs of the past decade. The rankling criteria took into consideration every team continental ranking points for every season from the year 2011-2020

The top 10 list has some surprise omission with a club such as Liverpool failing to make a cut. Barcelona leads the pack with accumulated points of 2,877 beating Real Madrid who stand at second position with 2,782.

Real Madrid enjoyed the Champions League title victories four times in the last decade as compared to their counterpart Barcelona who managed to win it twice. However, Barcelona enjoyed domestic success than Real Madrid. Barcelona managed to win 6 La Liga titles as compared to 3, for Real Madrid.

For the English side, the highest placed team comes at eighth position with Chelsea and Manchester City holding a tie with accumulated points standing at 2,133. This tie is just a glimpse of the competitive standards at the Premier League.

Chelsea have won the domestic title twice, one Champions League title and two Europa League titles within the last decade, while their counterpart have managed to wins 4 Premier League but have struggled to make an impact on the European stage.

Manchester United come third-best team in Europe for the last decade followed closely by Arsenal. The overall rank in 9th and tenth position respectively.

Manchester United has won a pair of Premier League titles in the last decade and has enjoyed domestic cup success and Europa league. They accumulated a total of 2,020 points in the last decade. 

Arsenal’s success in FA is extremely very high making it to cut a top in top ten with accumulated points standing at 2,016. Liverpool despite winning the Champions League and ending a long wait to clinch the Premier League title fails to appear in the top 10. 

The Reds rose to prominence under Jurgen Klopp at the end of the decade with the Pre-Klopp era seeing them struggling in league position and silverware.

Germany heavyweights take 3rd position having won two Champions League titles and enjoying domestic dominance, while France’s PSG comes fourth with dominance in France League 1.
