Ranking of the top 50 managers in world football right now
Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, has been named the best manager in the world right now, ahead of Premier League rivals Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel.
Last season, the 50-year-old Spaniard easily won the Premier League title, with City finishing 12 points ahead of crosstown rivals Manchester United.
City also won a record-tying eighth League Cup, but were eliminated from the FA Cup semi-finals by Tuchel’s Chelsea.
Guardiola, widely regarded as one of the greatest managers of all time, led City to their first Champions League final.
However, the defending Premier League champions were defeated 1-0 in Porto by Champions League holders Chelsea.
Guardiola was named the best head coach in the world by FourFourTwo in a star-studded list that included club and international managers.
The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona manager was lauded for his accomplishments and for remaining “number one,” “innovating,” and “finding ways to twist other elite coaches into submission.”
Tuchel finished second to Guardiola on this occasion, with Liverpool manager Klopp taking third place.
Italy manager Roberto Mancini was ranked sixth after leading his team to Euro 2020 victory in the summer, with England manager Gareth Southgate coming in ninth.
