Raheem Sterling sets Chelsea transfer ‘deadline’ as Todd Boehly sends stark warning to any ‘unhappy’ players
Reports of prospective Manchester City incomings have dwindled in recent days, but the club’s outgoings persist.
Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus are the two players most frequently associated with exits, with Bernardo Silva and Oleksandr Zinchenko also rumoured to be on their way out.
It’s far from ideal for City, who, despite their incredible talent, don’t have a large pool of players.
But what are the most recent reports stating, and are any players on the verge of leaving?
According to the Telegraph, Sterling wants his future resolved within the next two weeks.
According to sources, Raheem Sterling “wants his Manchester City future resolved in the next fortnight” amid interest from Chelsea.
The forward’s contract expires in 2023, and he only appeared in 23 Premier League games last season.
Chelsea has identified the 27-year-old as a major summer transfer target.
The Telegraph has released an article about Sterling’s status at Manchester City. ‘He hopes to determine his future in the next two weeks,’ says the athlete.
Chelsea is ‘targeting’ him, but there is ‘no frontrunner at the moment,’ with Barcelona and Real Madrid also expressing ‘interest.’
‘Sterling grew frustrated in the second half of the last campaign when he did not start several of the major matches,’ it is said.
The England international also believes that his next move will “define his career.” Sterling wants to leave City on a “better footing than his £49 million exit from Liverpool.”
Todd Boehly sends stark warning to any ‘unhappy’ players
Todd Boehly, the new owner of Chelsea, has only been in control for a little more than three weeks, but he is already making outstanding decisions.
Last season, Romelu Lukaku was nothing but poison in the Chelsea group, and Boehly’s first significant move in terms of squad movement will be to get rid of the striker.
His loan deal to Inter Milan is now extremely close to being finalised, according to a slew of prominent sources last night.
This bodes well for Boehly and the new Blues owners, who are entirely behind Thomas Tuchel and his wishes.
Making certain that a disgruntled player is dismissed from the squad is critical, as it serves as a harsh warning to any other players who may be unhappy.
If you don’t want to be here, then leave. The Blues fans will be delighted that Boehly is adopting this method of operation.
