Race to sign Serge Gnabry takes a new twist as Arsenal told to defeat Chelsea in high-profile transfer

Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has spent no time in the transfer market in preparation for the 2022-23 season.

Three new faces have already arrived at the Emirates: winger Marquinhos, midfielder Fabio Vieira, and goalkeeper Matt Turner, with more on the way.

Gabriel Jesus’ transfer from Manchester City is said to be complete, with only an official announcement to follow.

However, they are unlikely to be finished yet. With that in mind, SportsDias examines the most recent transfer rumours at Arsenal, including probable additions and exits.

Serge Gnabry new twist

According to recent reports, Arsenal’s pursuit of former winger Serge Gnabry has taken a new turn.

In recent weeks, the Bayern Munich star has been heavily linked with a return to the Emirates.

Mikel Arteta is looking to bolster his squad once more during the summer transfer season.

While the Spaniard was denied a return to the Champions League in the previous season, the break may allow him to make additions in order to strive for a top-four finish.

However, the inflows appear unlikely to end there, as a number of high-profile players remain linked.

That pursuit, however, may be jeopardised, as the Daily Star reports that Manchester United have entered the hunt for the 26-year-old.

It comes after the Red Devils were informed that Cristiano Ronaldo wanted to leave the club if the proper deal is made.

Due to his contractual status, a price of £40 million is thought to be able to land Gnabry this summer, although it remains to be seen whether a move to either club is on the cards.

Arsenal told to sign Cristiano Ronaldo

One of the biggest transactions this summer could involve Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, who has wanted to leave Old Trafford.

Chelsea are believed to be interested in a trade after Todd Boehly discussed the forward with agent Jorge Mendes.

Piers Morgan, an Arsenal fan, has asked Ronaldo to join the club, tweeting a photo of himself with the striker and a Gunners shirt with his name on the back. The tweet’s caption was simple: “It’s time @Cristiano #afc.”

Given how Mikel Arteta and Edu have recruited in recent years, a move for the forward is improbable. The transfer window, on the other hand, is still full of surprises.

Nicolas Pepe problem

While the Emirates is abuzz with new signings, exits are still on the horizon.

The Gunners are willing to move winger Nicolas Pepe after the Ivory Coast international fell down Mikel Arteta’s pecking order.

However, a permanent transfer away for Pepe may be less probable, according to PA, who says via the  Sun that the player’s £140,000-a-week wage is proving to be a barrier for possible suitors, while other sources suggest Arsenal has set an unreasonable asking price for the winger.

As a result, a loan move seems more possible, with reports indicating interest from La Liga clubs.
