‘Problem with his knee’: Conte now sweating over Tottenham forward’s fitness after Frankfurt win

‘Problem with his knee’: Conte now sweating over Tottenham forward’s fitness after Frankfurt win

Richarlison suffered a “knee problem” in Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday night, according to manager Antonio Conte.

After the game, Spurs manager told BT Sport – as transcribed by Sky Sports – that he hoped it was “nothing serious” ahead of their Premier League weekend match.

Richarlison put in a strong performance as Tottenham beat Frankfurt 3-2 in North London.

With some good movement and a pass to Kane, the Brazilian contributed to Son Heung-opening min’s goal.

Richarlison worked hard all night, frequently outplaying opposition defender Evan N’Dicka.

In the 67th minute, the 25-year-old was replaced by Oliver Skipp.

Conte revealed after the game that Richarlison left the game due to a knee injury.

“We work a lot during the week to try to have a good combination between our strikers and today they showed a great link between them,” the Spurs boss said about his front line.

“But also Richy, he played a good game and then had a problem with his knee. I hope it’s nothing serious for Saturday’s game against Everton.”

It’s disappointing to hear that one of Tottenham’s key players has been injured after such a strong performance.

Hopefully, it’s not serious, as Spurs’ schedule is already packed and Conte can’t afford to have more injuries.

At the same time, Dejan Kulusevski could return, so if Richarlison is unable to play against Everton, the Swede can fill in.

And Bryan Gil, who came off the bench and performed admirably, could also be considered.
