Premier League make major decision ahead of Arsenal vs Man City with referee announcement

Next Wednesday’s matchup between Arsenal and Manchester City has the potential to become a Premier League classic for years to come.

The match will pit potential champions against those who have been there and done that numerous times before.

Pep Guardiola, a multiple-time champion, and Mikel Arteta, a former second-in-command under Guardiola, are the respective managers of the two clubs.

The Gunners currently hold a five-point lead over their opponents with a game in hand, but any slip-up could flip that advantage on its head.

This nearly occurred the previous weekend, when North London fell to Everton, but Tottenham’s victory over City saved the day.

“No, I don’t think so, we’ve played a lot of games this season like that already,” Arteta responded when asked if his players struggled with the pressure of their situation.

The Spaniard will be hopeful that his team can rise to the occasion when they face their title rivals, with an upcoming match against Brentford.

A key decision that may alter the outcome of the event has already been made in advance, with some consideration given to the upcoming match.

Because the Premier League has announced the officials who will oversee the next round of games, Anthony Taylor will referee Arsenal’s match against Manchester City.

This season, Taylor has officiated four Arsenal matches, including a north London derby and a match against Manchester United.

It remains to be seen if the referee will have to make any significant decisions during the game, but the magnitude of the contest suggests that he  may have to.
