The English Premier League is home to some of the world’s best penalty takers.

Due to the high level of intensity in the English Premier League, players are prone to making errors within the box, resulting in a penalty.

Taking a penalty is a difficult task, especially when the outcome of the kick could determine your team’s fate.

However, there are some Premier League players who have demonstrated poise and skill in the face of extreme pressure.

These players have a proven track record of accurately slotting the ball into the back of the net from 12 yards out.

Without further ado, here are the five best penalty-takers in the English Premier League right now.

5 Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes is a top penalty taker in the English Premier League. In Manchester United colors, the playmaker has a conversion rate of 91.30 percent.

Fernandes has taken 16 penalties in the league since joining the Red Devils from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, scoring 13 and missing just three.

Nine of his 18 league goals in the 2020-21 season were penalties.

However, following Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United in the summer of 2021, and a dip in form, the 27-year-old lost his role as the club’s designated penalty taker to his compatriot.

Fernandes has also failed to convert his last two league penalty kicks. Last season, he missed penalties against Aston Villa and Arsenal.

However, if Fernandes can return to his previous form, these could easily be written off as a blip.

4 Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United currently holds the record for the most goals scored in men’s football.

So far in his career, the Portuguese international has scored 815 goals (via Sporting News).

Ronaldo has scored 144 of his 815 goals from the penalty spot, making him one of the best penalty takers in football right now.

The 37-year-old returned to the Premier League for a second stint with Manchester United in the 2021-22 season, replacing Bruno Fernandes as the club’s designated penalty-taker.

Last season, he took three penalties in the league and converted all of them.

3 Harry Kane

England captain Harry Kane is not only one of the league’s most prolific goal scorers, but also one of the league’s best penalty takers.

The 29-year-old is Tottenham Hotspur’s designated penalty taker and has performed admirably from the spot. Kane’s penalty kicks are both powerful and accurate.

Last season, he took four penalties and scored all of them. His last penalty miss in the league came against Liverpool in the 2017-18 season, when Loris Karius saved his shot.

Kane has taken 31 penalties in the Premier League, scoring 28 while missing three.

2 Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah is also one of the best penalty takers in the English Premier League right now.

He is Liverpool’s designated penalty taker, and he rarely misses from the spot.

The Egyptian winger picks his spot for a penalty kick, then tilts to the right while taking a short run before blasting the ball into the net with his powerful left foot.

Last season, he scored five penalties in the league and missed only one, against Leicester City. Salah scored his first goal of the 2022-23 season in the FA Community Shield against Manchester City.

So far in the league, he has scored 18 penalties while missing only two.

1 Jorginho

Jorginho is most likely the Premier League’s best penalty taker.

Jorginho, an Italian deep-lying midfielder, is one of the best penalty takers in the game right now.

He takes penalties for both the Blues and the Italian national team.

Since joining the London club in the summer of 2018, the 30-year-old has scored 20 Premier League goals, with 18 of them coming via penalty kicks.

In the Premier League, he has only missed three penalties.

Jorginho has converted seven of his last eight penalties in the Premier League. His most recent miss came against West Ham United in the 2021-22 season.

On August 6, he scored his first penalty of the 2022-23 season in Chelsea’s 1-0 league opener victory over Everton.

His unusual style of ‘hop, skip, and a jump’ before smashing the ball into the net gives him just a little more time to gauge which direction the goalkeeper will go.
