Premier League 2022/23 team of the season so far as Martin Odegaard, Erling Haaland and Marcus Rashford make a cut

Premier League 2022/23 team of the season so far as Martin Odegaard, Erling Haaland and Marcus Rashford make a cut

The Premier League has reached the midpoint of the season, with Arsenal leading the standings.

Despite Erling Haaland’s incredible goalscoring run, Mikel Arteta’s squad has a cushion over champions Manchester City in the title race.

The resurgence of Manchester United and Eddie Howe’s revolution at Newcastle United have positioned both clubs to qualify for the Champions League.

Liverpool, Chelsea, and Tottenham still have work to do, whereas Brighton and Fulham have had successful seasons thus far.

As teams spend heavily to change their fortunes in January, here is SportsDias Sport’s team of the season thus far.

Premier League 2022/23 team of the season

Alisson, Liverpool: Keeping Liverpool in games while others around him collapse.

Kieran Trippier, Newcastle:Eddie Howe has been a revelation with his team’s offensive prowess and solid defense.

Sven Botman, Newcastle: Has flourished since joining and quickly adapted to the league, edging out teammate Fabian Schar by a hair.

William Saliba, Arsenal: A bonus “signing” for Mikel Arteta after three loan stints in France, becoming an immediate defender pillar for Arsenal.

Oleksandr Zinchenko, Arsenal: Last summer, Arteta made a shrewd move to acquire a player whose tactical intelligence, versatility, and winning mentality have helped transform the Arsenal into title contenders.

Casemiro, Manchester United: A costly investment, but now a cornerstone for Erik ten Hag’s Old Trafford revolution. As tenacious as ever, but with space to thrive on the ball and in the final third, including a crucial stoppage-time equalizer against Chelsea.

Alexis Mac Allister, Brighton: Brilliant little player capable of threading passes into the final third and setting the tempo for the Seagulls, who was revitalized in a deeper position at Brighton prior to his crucial role in Argentina’s World Cup victory.

Martin Odegaard, Arsenal: Magnificent and thriving as Arsenal’s captain, with superb balance and vision when carrying the ball and selecting passes. Has elevated his goal-scoring ability.

Martin Odegaard, Arsenal:

Miguel Almiron, Newcastle: Almiron dominated the league from October to the World Cup break, scoring eight goals in nine games. So many candidates for the various roles on this team. It was delightful to observe how his contributions grew increasingly audacious as his confidence grew.

Erling Haaland, Manchester City: A goal-scoring android. He has scored 21 goals in just 17 Premier League appearances, putting him in position to shatter all single-season Premier League scoring records.

Marcus Rashford, Manchester United: Rejuvenated under Erik ten Hag and without Cristiano Ronaldo’s weight. Rashford has flourished with the added responsibility and is enjoying the best form of his career. Based on his current form, he may be the best player in the league.

Premier League 2022/23 team of the season Honourable mentions

Bernd Leno has been dependable between the posts for Fulham, while Aaron Ramsdale has established himself as one of the league’s best goalkeepers at Arsenal, demonstrating excellent judgment and anticipation in addition to his ability to make spectacular saves.

At the back, Ben White is Trippier’s closest rival, and the aforementioned Fabian Schar could have been included, as the Swiss international is essential to the league’s best defense at St. James’ Park. At center-back, Ben MeeMax Kilman, and Thiago Silva have also excelled.

Solly March has played multiple positions for the Seagulls, but when he fills in at left-back, he adds a threat from deep.

For Marco Silva’s Whites, both Andreas Pereira and Joao Palhinha, who has adapted to the Premier League superbly, have excelled.

Bruno Guimaraes has added real class to Newcastle’s midfield, while Moises Caicedo has been a revelation for Brighton alongside Mac Allister, with the Ecuadorian being able to break through opponents’ lines and thrive under pressure.

Rodri continues to be a calming presence in the middle of the field for City, while Granit Xhaka has found the right balance for Arsenal.
