Player awaiting an offer from Liverpool. The club wants to sell him ‘immediately,’ and the chief is in a hurry
Calciomercato stated on June 23rd that Liverpool had stepped forward to capture Marco Asensio and will battle with AC Milan for the Real Madrid midfielder.
The attacker’s current contract expires in less than a year, and renewal talks haven’t gone well thus far.
Sport reported on Monday that Los Blancos made a renewal offer four months ago.
The 26-year-old has not responded to this offer and is ‘waiting to see’ if an offer from Liverpool or another club comes through.
The door to Milan is thought to be closed since the Serie A champions’ manager, Stefano Pioli, prefers Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi. As a result, the ex-Mallorcan guy departs from the San Siro.
Meanwhile, TuttoMercatoWeb reports that Real Madrid will demand €25-30 million to authorise his sale.
Asensio will expect a net annual compensation of €7 million but is willing to negotiate a lower figure if there is a ‘valid and convincing project.’
According to TMW, Milan are still in the running because they have had positive negotiations with the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes.
However, convincing the Champions League winners will be difficult because the Rossoneri have not gone above a €15 million bid.
Real Madrid are’more inclined’ to trade the attacker to a Premier League club, including the Reds.
Liverpool and other English teams can afford the €25-30 million fee sought by Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
Florentino Perez is in a ‘hurry’ to cut connections with the Spaniard because the Madrid club wants to sell him ‘immediately’ if his contract is not renewed.
By adding Darwin Nunez to their team, Liverpool have ensured Mohamed Salah’s long-term future and reinforced their attack.
If Asensio moves to Anfield, it is unclear where he would fit into Jürgen Klopp’s plans.
