Piers Morgan launches into a massive rant at Mikel Arteta after Aubameyang brace in El Clasico
Piers Morgan slammed Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice in Barcelona’s 4-0 triumph over Real Madrid in El Clasico.
The Gabonese striker had fallen out of favor at Arsenal, having been left out of the team for the 2-1 defeat at Everton in early December.
The then-Arsenal captain was reprimanded for violating team protocols, which proved to be the final straw for Arteta.
As a result, Aubameyang was stripped of his captaincy and dropped from the first-team picture.
But, with a weekly salary of £350,000, it was evident that a breakup had to happen in January.
As a result, Aubameyang was granted a free transfer to Barcelona, with the striker taking a significant pay cut in the process. The striker announced his departure from the club with a message for Arteta.
Aubameyang, on the other hand, has been eager to make up for missed time since his departure.
And the striker has soon found himself among the goals as Xavi attempts to guide Barcelona back to the top of LaLiga.
On Sunday night, Aubameyang demonstrated his newfound confidence.
That comes after he scored a lethal double in Barcelona’s 4-0 win over title-winners-elect Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
And it brings Aubameyang’s total for Barcelona to an amazing nine goals in only eight starts.
Morgan, a controversial journalist and Arsenal supporter, went on a rage after witnessing his heroics on Sunday night.
Morgan is clearly displeased with witnessing their former striker put Los Blancos to the sword, and he takes aim at Arsenal and Arteta.
“A free transfer.” Morgan seethed in a tweet after Aubameyang opened the scoring. “WE GAVE HIM AWAY”.
“Another brilliant goal by @Auba – this time in El Clasico,” he wrote in a separate post. “He’s been the world’s most lethal goal machine since joining Barcelona… And with every goal he scores, he makes Arteta look more absurd for giving him away.”
Morgan also praised Aubameyang for his “great back-heel assist” that set up Ferran Torres for Barcelona’s third goal.
Morgan, on the other hand, went off again after seeing Aubameyang score his second goal of the night.
“UPDATE: Aubameyang scores again in El Clasico,” Morgan wrote. “Two goals & one assist so far, and it’s still only the 53rd minute. You watching @m8arteta???”
Arteta’s departure from Arsenal looked to be the only reasonable solution at the time.
And when a fan reminded Morgan of his troubles during his time at Emirates, Morgan refused to back down.
“A manager’s job is to manage great talent & get the best out of them, not drive them out of the club,” he said.
“I’m enjoying watching @Auba work his magic for Barca, whilst remaining incredulous & furious that Arsenal gave away such a wonderful world class striker,” he continued. “Trust the process, my a*se.”
