Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to reject move to Los Angeles FC and fight for Chelsea place

Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang will decline a transfer to Los Angeles FC and will fight for his position at Chelsea.

The former Arsenal captain, who joined the Blues in the summer from Barcelona, has fallen out of favor at Stamford Bridge this season and was cut from Graham Potter’s Champions League squad last week.

The 33-year-old has been offered a way out of the club, with LAFC eager to take him on loan for the remainder of the season.

The Daily Telegraph reports that Chelsea has held discussions with the MLS club regarding the transfer, but Aubameyang is set to reject the offer because he does not believe it is the right time in his career to move to the United States.

Having already played for Barcelona and Chelsea this season, the Gabon international was unable to join another European club in January.

AC Milan and Atletico Madrid are also interested in re-signing him this summer, along with the La Liga leaders.

Aubameyang is aware of the interest, and according to the report, he believes he still has much to offer at the highest level, given that Karim Benzema and Luka Modric are still performing well at the age of 35 and 37, respectively.

For the time being, he is determined to work as diligently as possible at Chelsea in order to reenter the manager’s Premier League plans.

Potter lauded Aubameyang’s attitude and response to being dropped from the Champions League squad at a press conference on Friday, insisting that he remains in his future plans.

“He has been training well with us this week,’ Potter said ahead of Chelsea’s clash with West Ham United.

“He is a really good professional, supporting his teammates and while he is here he is doing what he is expected to do which is train well and act well.”
