Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang posts cryptic Instagram message after Arsenal defeated Chelsea 4-2 at Stamford Bridge
After Mikel Arteta’s side defeated Chelsea on Wednesday, former Arsenal attacker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang tweeted a cryptic Instagram remark.
The Gabonese attacker, who joined Barcelona last year, texted his former Arsenal teammate Eddie Nketiah, who scored twice as the Gunners responded emphatically to take three points at Stamford Bridge.
The north Londoners had lost their previous three games in a row and were in danger of losing their top-four ambitions, but they put on an excellent performance across the metropolis.
Aubameyang has struggled for form for the Blaugrana, but he has scored 10 goals for his new club since Mikel Arteta’s disputed decision to allow him to leave the Emirates as a free agent.
He did, however, take the time to SMS Nketiah, with whom he shared a team in North London.
Nketiah scored his team’s first goal and also their third, putting them back in front after Chelsea equalized twice.
Unsurprisingly, the striker took to Instagram after the game to upload a celebratory picture from the game with the phrase“God’s timing” with the emoji of a phone, a praying emoji and the #COYG (Come On You Gunners) hashtag.
His teammates Nuno Tavares, Thomas Partey, and Bukayo Saka were among those who congratulated the strikers, with Saka stating, “You deserve this bro.” Former Arsenal youth products Joe Willock and Alex Iwobi congratulated him in the comments section of the post.
Barry Douglas, who played alongside Nketiah while he was on loan at Leeds, was overjoyed to see the youngster back in the goals.
The most remarkable response came from former Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who responded to Nketiah’s post with a phone emoji and a heart.
It was clear that the Barcelona star had watched the game and was happy for his former buddy.

Nketiah admitted he had a “chip on his shoulder” after scoring twice against Chelsea – the team who discharged him as a teenager.:
“I think it makes that bit more special, I was here up until U14s and then got let go so you always have that chip on your shoulder to come and prove yourself. But today isn’t about me, it is good I got two goals, but it is about the team and bouncing back.”
He went on to add: “I think it gives us confidence, we’ve all stuck together through the difficult times. We’ve showed that we can bounce back from setbacks. Today is a great result, it is always nice winning a derby and we’re just looking to push on and hopefully keep getting three points to climb up the table.”
The win moved Arsenal into fifth position in the Premier League, tied with Tottenham on 57 points, although the Gunners’ North London rivals remain ahead on goal difference in the race for the top four.
