Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang now planning Chelsea departure despite having “nothing to prove”

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is rumored to be plotting his Chelsea exit just two months into his stay at Stamford Bridge, with a sensational summer switch in mind.

The Gabonese international only stayed at Barcelona for six months before moving to west London in the summer window, but if reports are to be believed, he may not be there much longer.

The former Arsenal captain cost the Blues £10 million on transfer deadline day, when Aubameyang’s ex-Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel was still in charge.

He was later fired and replaced by Graham Potter, who has had a good start at the helm as well.

Aubameyang scored his first goal for Chelsea in last weekend’s 2-1 win at Crystal Palace before adding another in Chelsea’s 3-0 Champions League victory over AC Milan.

According to French publication Foot Mercato, the 33-year-old is already planning another summer move, this time to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.

According to the same report, Christophe Galtier’s team is also interested in the potential deal.

The Parisians are so interested that they have already made contact with Aubameyang’s representatives to determine the likelihood of a switch.

The striker is said to have always wanted to play in Paris, and joining PSG would bring him back into contact with his former Saint-Etienne manager, Galtier.

Indeed, his transfer to Chelsea signaled another reunion, albeit with Tuchel. However, after Aubameyang’s debut against Dinamo Zagreb, the German was fired.

Potter has been quick to dismiss any speculation that the ex-Gunners man might be sent packing under new management.

“I’m looking forward to working with him, I’ve enjoyed working with him in the brief time we’ve been together,” Potter said of the forward. “I can see he’s a good guy, focused, wants to do well, wants to play, wants to score. So I’m really enjoying it.

“He’s got nothing to prove to me or anything negative in that regard. His career is his career, I have huge respect for that.

“My job now is to help him enjoy his football and be a part of what we’re trying to do here. He’s acted as a top professional, a top person, so I’m really looking forward to working with him.”

Anyone associated with Chelsea will be disappointed if Aubameyang leaves, especially after his strong start to life at the Bridge.

Last season, the Blues were accused of being overly aggressive in attack, but the forward’s goals could be the difference this season.
