It doesn’t take long for players to warm up to a new arrival, and Fabio Vieira will meet a familiar face in the form of fellow Portuguese youth international Nuno Tavares at Arsenal.
After a mixed debut season, it’s unclear whether Tavares will spend this season with the Gunners, but he’s given the former Porto man an early nickname after pointing out a comical lookalike:

“T-Bag” is said in reference to a Prison Break character played by Robert Knepper, and it’s fair to say there’s more than a slight resemblance here and it has been pointed out on Twitter before:

Vieira, 22, joins Arsenal for £31.5 million from FC Porto, becoming Mikel Arteta’s first major acquisition of the year following the arrival of Marquinhos from Sao Paulo.

Last season, the young Portuguese midfielder made 27 appearances in the Primeira Liga, scoring six goals and providing 14 assists.
Vieira has already praised his potential teammates Saka and Smith-Rowe, emphasising his respect for the dynamic duo.
According to the club’s official website (via Mirror):
“I’m a fan of Bukayo Saka and Smith-Rowe too. I really like the way they play. Odegaard is quite similar to me.”
Following a dismal end to last season, Mikel Arteta has been looking to bolster his attacking options at the Emirates Stadium.
The north London club had a chance to qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 2016, but fell short with three games remaining.
The Gunners have struggled to find their scoring touch this season, finishing sixth out of the top eight in goals scored (61).
Vieira’s arrival provides Arteta with important options going forward, and he is also interested in signing Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus and Leeds United winger Raphinha.
According to Football London, Jesus’ representatives have been in London to discuss a possible move for the Brazilian striker.
Meanwhile, according to The Athletic, Arsenal has made a proposal for Raphinha, although it is expected to fall short of Leeds’ assessment of the winger.
Arteta is clearly eager to strengthen his attacking system at the Emirates, and Vieira’s praise for Saka and Smith-Rowe will delight Gunners supporters.
