Peter Crouch makes exceptional remarks concerning Liverpool star who can score all types of goals after a win vs Porto
Following Mohamed Salah’s record-breaking exploits over the past week, Peter Crouch has praised the Liverpool forward’s goalscoring ability as ‘incredible.’
Salah became the Premier League’s fastest player to reach 100 goals, and he dazzled again in their 5-1 Champions League win over Porto.
The flurry of goals has marked the superstar’s stunning start to the season, and Crouch was effusive in his praise during his analysis last night.
Salah’s century of goals in 151 Premier League appearances puts him ahead of Alan Shearer, Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero, and Thierry Henry.
This fact astounded Crouch, who said on BT Sport that the rate at which Salah is finding the net is ‘becoming ridiculous.’
“That statistic, the people that are ahead of him – Shearer, Kane, Aguero – the company he’s in is just so esteemed, we run out of superlatives really,” he said.
“He’s just carried on where he left off last season. He had a difficult season last year, but he’s still banging in goals and finishing top goal-scorer. It really is incredible.
“He can score all types of goals. He’s one of those players that you know what’s going to happen, you know he wants to get on his left foot but you cannot stop him.
“The amount of goals he’s getting is becoming ridiculous.”
The first came as a result of a poor parry by goalkeeper Diogo Carlos, which allowed Salah to sweep into an empty net and spark his team’s rout.
Salah later tucked in Liverpool’s third goal, picking up Curtis Jones’ pass across the box and sliding past the advancing stopper.
After the final whistle, Jurgen Klopp praised his team’s ‘wonderful’ football, but remained grounded despite their perfect start in Group B.
Salah’s tally was matched by Roberto Firmino, who added a brace of his own, and Sadio Mane tucked home from close range to round out the scoring.
“First and foremost the most important thing is the result,’ Klopp told BT Sport.
“It was good in lots of moments. We could see Porto watched our last game at Brentford. They started direct.
“I wanted to get it sorted on the pitch and that’s what we did step-by-step.
“We scored maybe not the most amazing goals but important ones in the first half. In the second-half we controlled the game.”
