Pep Guardiola reveals why Man City oppressor Jamie Vardy loves playing against them
Following the arrival of Patson Daka in the summer, coupled with the scintillating end-of-season form of Vardy, the Leicester City goalscoring responsibility on Jamie Vardy has relaxed.
Now into his mid-30s, the Foxes legend isn’t going to play every week, notwithstanding his excellent condition and fitness levels.
But given his record against the Premier League big guns, especially Manchester City, it would be a shock if Vardy doesn’t start for the Foxes against the champions this weekend.
A man for the big occasion, Vardy clearly loves playing against the Citizens.
He has scored 11 goals against Man City, including nine since Pep Guardiola took command and hat-trick in the 5-2 win at the Etihad last season.

Guardiola is huge supporter of Vardy and has spoken candidly about why he enjoys so much success against his side.
“We play 40 metres in front, so it’s perfect for him. Vardy scores goals against us and all the teams,” said the Man City boss.
“In the box, in the final third, he is exceptional. He is one of the best strikers I’ve ever seen.
“With his movement, intensity, high pressing; he’s an exceptional player.”
As Stuart Brennan, Man City editor for the Manchester Evening News said: “The Blues’ ordinary record against Leicester in modern times continued in the Community Shield, when they fell to Kelechi Iheanacho’s late penalty, and they cannot afford another slip-up on Saturday, already playing catch-up after losing to Tottenham on the opening day.
“Keeping Vardy quiet will be key to that.”
