Pep Guardiola named as the ideal coach for European giants following Manchester City’s success
According to a recent French report, current Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is now the ‘dream coach’ of one European superpower when his time at the Etihad Stadium comes to an end.
Pep Guardiola’s response to potentially signing a new contract at Manchester City after winning his fourth Premier League title in the last five seasons was admitting that he was too ‘exhausted’ to even address such a question after his side’s dramatic 3-2 win against Aston Villa on the final day of the season.
However, the Catalan manager earlier stated in an interview with Sky Sports News that he will only decide whether or not to commit his future to the Etihad Stadium at the end of the 2022/23 season.
With the Spaniard’s current contract set to expire in the summer of 2023, his statement has caused confusion to the majority of Manchester City fans about whether he would decide to extend his contract beyond the end of the next season.
It has now been claimed that a prominent European club is actively arranging the celebrated coach’s departure when his contract at the Etihad Stadium expires next year.
As per a report by French newspaper L’Equipe, Pep Guardiola is Paris Saint-Germain and their Qatari owners’ ‘dream coach’.
While it was believed that Mauricio Pochettino would be let go by the Ligue 1 winners because he was ‘underwhelmed’ at the Parc des Princes after failing to win the coveted Champions League last season, it has been reported that the Argentine could stay for another season.
More information suggests that PSG is keeping an eye on Pep Guardiola’s contract issue at Manchester City, which might possibly determine Mauricio Pochettino’s future in the French capital.
The story did reiterate that, despite the City manager’s refusal to announce his future plans, there remains a chance he will sign a contract extension on the blue side of Manchester.
With a wide range of trustworthy writers reporting that Pep Guardiola is in talks with City for a two-year contract extension in 2025, only time will tell if taking over at PSG would move him away from leaving next year.
