‘Payback time’: £10m player sold by Liverpool manager Klopp reacts to City defeat on Twitter
After Real Madrid’s action on Wednesday night, there will be no fairytale Champions League final between Liverpool and Manchester City
Real Madrid will face Liverpool in Paris on May 28 after a stunning come-from-behind victory over Pep Guardiola’s team last night at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Manchester City were minutes away from setting up a mouth-watering encounter with their Anfield rivals, but two stoppage-time goals took the tie to extra time after finished 5-5 overall, before Carlo Ancelotti’s soldiers advanced thanks to a Karim Benzema penalty over the additional 30 minutes.
The Spanish giants defeated the Reds in the 2018 final in Kiev, where Loris Karius made a couple of costly blunders in the Premier League club’s 3-1 defeat.
And Dejan Lovren, who was a member of that Liverpool squad before moving to Zenit for £10 million, has tweeted that it’s ‘payback time.’

Good luck in the final Liverpool FC. #paybacktime
Liverpool are also likely to be favorites to exact their vengeance.
Jurgen Klopp has developed a formidable roster for himself on Merseyside, and while Real Madrid has some excellent players, the Reds’ attacking force is difficult for any defense to counter.
Even if Madrid can contain Mohamed Salah, their go-to man, they must also contend with Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota, and Luis Diaz.
Stopping Liverpool will be extremely difficult, but Ancelotti has won this competition three times, and if anyone can design a strategy to silence Klopp’s attackers, it’s the experienced Italian manager.
