Paul Pogba’s decision can allow Thomas Tuchel conclude a £13m swoop as Chelsea leads transfer race

With Todd Boehly’s objective to strengthen the first-team ahead of next season, Paul Pogba might have a big say in the success of Chelsea’s forthcoming transfer window.

With Jorginho and N’Golo Kante due to leave Stamford Bridge in the next year, the Blues have been widely linked with a deal for a midfielder.

Thomas Tuchel’s major targets have emerged as Declan Rice and Aurelien Tchouameni, however the west Londoners have also been connected with a bid for Adrien Rabiot, according to sources.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Chelsea is leading the race to capture the Juventus midfielder this summer.

According to the report, the 27-year-old, whose contract with the Turin-based club expires next summer, might be available for as low as €15 million (£12.8 million).

Newcastle have also been linked with Rabiot, although his agency has stated that a move to Paris Saint-Germain is still possible.

Rabiot’s possible departure from Juventus coincides with the Old Lady’s rumoured intention to re-sign Pogba from Manchester United.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Massimiliano Allegri’s team are on the verge of releasing the midfielder, who has been given a three-year contract for roughly £10 million each season.

According to the source, Juventus is confident of completing a transaction, which might be officially confirmed this week. With Pogba on the way, Allegri might have as many as six midfielders at his disposal next season.

As a result, Juventus may be willing to part ways with Rabiot, with Pogba assisting Chelsea in completing the first deal of the Boehly era.

According to the MailOnline, the LA Dodgers co-owner, who sealed a £4.25 billion deal to acquire the west London club on Monday, is likely to ‘push for A-list stars’ to usher in a new era at Stamford Bridge.

Tuchel is eager to rebuild Chelsea this summer, regardless of whether the American billionaire acquires Rabiot’s services. The Blues manager told football.london: “We are rebuilding, not improving the squad. We are rebuilding. This is always challenging, but we are up for the challenge.

“I don’t know where we are from day one. What I can promise is that I will be here – if I can promise that – I will be here with full energy and positive energy no matter what. We will still work for Chelsea, and I refuse to think of negative scenarios. We will be competitive, on which level we will see.”
