Paul Pogba’s future at Manchester United is undecided as his stand-off over a new deal continues.

Pogba’s current deal lapses next summer, and with an extension yet to be agreed, he has been the source of building transfer speculation.

Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with a move for the Frenchman, who is in a strong situation knowing United are at risk of losing him for nothing next summer.

But it is not the first time the Red Devils have had a huge name regarding an exit – and history suggests the Glazer family will take a strong stance.

Back in 2013, Wayne Rooney was keen to search opportunities elsewhere after the arrival of new manager David Moyes.

Years later, Moyes admitted the Glazers made their policy clear – that they decide when players leave Manchester United.

Moyes told beinSports:
“I have to say I learnt a lesson a little bit from the owners of Manchester United at that time.

“I think Wayne eventually put a transfer request in, and the owners of Manchester United turned around and said, ‘You don’t think we listen to transfer requests? We’ve had far better players, many better players put in transfer requests. We tell them when we want them to leave Manchester United’.”

Those words should serve as a lesson to Pogba that the Glazer family are not the sort to cave in to his interests or pressure placed on the club.

So far, United have stood strong and talks are believed to be ongoing over a new deal that could keep him at the club.

Rooney finally ended up staying put at United for another two years under Moyes despite the initial disagreement.

“Wayne didn’t have it in any way against me,” Moyes continued. “I think he had grievances from the prior regime in the way things went on at the time. I think he felt it was time for him to move on.

“I remember him in pre-season, before we came to Asia, and his training was great. But I did say to him, ‘how are you going to train Wayne? Are you for it, or do you want to train with the young boys?’ He says, ‘no, I’m fine’. And to be fair, every minute of it he was very good.

“I thought he would help me and he certainly did. The day [of my first Premier League game at] Swansea, Robin van Persie scored a hat-trick (he actually scored two) and I remember Wayne warming up and thinking, ‘I wonder what the Manchester United supporters are going to react?’

“What a support they gave him, the minute he went out on the touchline, they were right behind him and that made it easier for me as a manager.”

Despite unresolved future, the midfielder has reported for pre-season duty at the club’s ongoing training camp in Scotland.

The Daily Mail reported that Pogba arrived by taxi at the training camp in St Andrews on Tuesday afternoon.

It then seems that the 28-year-old then took part in the session with his teammates, featuring in images released by the club on social media and posting on his own Instagram.
