Paris Saint-Germain interested in Manchester City’s Erling Braut Haaland to pair him with Kylian Mbappe
According to reports, Paris Saint-Germain is interested in acquiring the services of Erling Braut Haaland, who currently plays as a striker for Manchester City.
Haaland, who signed a five-year contract with City in July 2022, joined from Borussia Dortmund.
He has been in impressive form since then, scoring 33 goals in 34 games across all competitions. In the Premier League, he has scored 27 goals in 25 games, including his latest goal in Saturday’s match against Crystal Palace.
Haaland scored a penalty in the 78th minute, securing a 1-0 victory for his team and temporarily reducing the gap to two points at the top of the table.
On Sunday afternoon, Arsenal widened their lead over Man City to five points with a 3-0 victory over Fulham.
Despite being the Premier League’s top scorer, there are claims that Man City’s team efficiency is affected when Haaland plays.
Sport reports that PSG is interested in signing Haaland this summer to bolster their squad for the 2023-24 season, following their exit from the Champions League.
The report also suggests that PSG wants to pair Haaland with Kylian Mbappe, despite rumors of the futures of their current forwards.
If PSG were to pursue Haaland, it would raise doubts about the futures of Neymar and Lionel Messi, especially since Messi’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
While Man City is not likely to allow Haaland to leave, there is speculation that PSG could trigger his release clause, which is reportedly €200m (£177m).
Real Madrid is also interested in Haaland and was interested in signing him last summer before he joined Manchester City. They are searching for a long-term replacement for Karim Benzema, who has been struggling with injuries this season.
