Ousmane Dembele issues huge hint on Chelsea transfer decision as Todd Boehly assurance made
Chelsea’s pursuit of Ousmane Demeble in the forthcoming transfer window has received a significant boost.
This season, the 25-year-old has been widely linked with a move to Stamford Bridge as Thomas Tuchel designs a reconstruction this summer.
According to the MailOnline, the group led by Todd Boehly, who concluded a £4.25 billion agreement to buy the west London club on Monday, would ‘push for A-list stars’ to usher in a new era at Stamford Bridge.
With the new ownership group anxious to bolster the Blues’ arsenal, The Telegraph reports that Tuchel will have £200 million at his disposal to reinforce his team after player sales.
A portion of this might be set aside for the arrival of Dembele, who has yet to agree to new terms with Barcelona and will thus be available for free transfer in the coming weeks.
Despite Chelsea’s long-standing interest in the France international, Liverpool is said to be a contender.
According to SPORT, Jurgen Klopp’s team has made contact with the Barcelona winger following Sadio Mane’s decision to leave this summer.
While this may appear to be a blow to west Londoners, it is believed that Dembele decided to postpone his choice until the Chelsea takeover was finished, according to the Press Association – and it must be mentioned that his decision to do so drops a significant clue.
The Blues manager is a big fan of the Frenchman, having worked with him briefly at Borussia Dortmund.
Tuchel’s man-management guided Dembele to a £135.5 million move to Barcelona during their time together in the Bundesliga.
Speaking in January on the winger’s contract saga, Tuchel said: “He’s a very good player, and I am very fortunate to have trained him in my time at Dortmund. It was only one year, it should have been longer, but I needed to leave and he decided to leave.
“We are not in close contact, we have met here and there because of his duties for the French national team when I was in Paris. We exchanged some messages. I have absolutely no idea why he is in this situation, I don’t know the detail, so it’s better not to talk.”
According to football.london, the Blues are interested in Dembele and could make a move for him this summer, albeit the club will need to create room for his arrival by selling an attacker.
