One Liverpool player did not receive an FA Cup winner’s medal despite being one of the club’s leading goalscorer
Takumi Minamino did not receive an FA Cup winners medal despite ending as Liverpool’s top scorers, and fans on social media have requested that he be awarded one immediately.
Liverpool completed a cup double over Chelsea, defeating the Blues on penalties in a final at Wembley for the second time this season.
Kostas Tsimikas became an immediate cult hero after scoring the game-winning penalty, placing a beautiful spot-kick into the bottom left-hand corner to send the travelling Kop into pandemonium.
Fans tossed red flares onto the field, creating a spectacular crimson mist in the air and guaranteeing that anyone listening in late knew who won the game.
Luis Diaz was the night’s highlight performer, while Liverpool as a whole was outstanding.
Chelsea deserve credit for preventing Liverpool from beating them in normal time for the fourth time this season.
It was also the second time they failed to break down Thomas Tuchel’s troops in extra time before winning on penalties.
Despite his significant efforts this season, Takumi Minamino, one of Jurgen Klopp’s heroes in both the FA Cup and the League Cup, did not appear to get a winners medal.
To help Liverpool reach the final, the Japan international scored a brace against Nottingham Forest in the quarter-finals and a lone goal against Cardiff City in the fourth round.
While he was not in the matchday squad for the final, Minamino’s contributions to Liverpool’s FA Cup success cannot be overlooked, as he finished as the tournament’s top goalscorer.
He also received more than any other Liverpool player during the team’s successful League Cup campaign, and considering his contributions to the cup double, he deserves special appreciation from the club.
At the very least, Liverpool must ensure that he receives his FA Cup victory medal, and given that he did not receive one on the day, they must ensure that fans see him with his medal.

Jurgen Klopp has done an excellent job of making squad players feel special, and this isn’t only symbolic.
Minamino’s efforts have been critical this season, both on the field and as a means of rotating the attackers who play more frequently.
