Omonia boss Lennon reveals what he believes Erik ten Hag has changed at Manchester United

Neil Lennon, manager of Omonia Nicosia, has explained what he believes Erik ten Hag has changed at  Manchester United.

In his pre-match press conference ahead of tonight’s Europa League clash at Old Trafford, the Cypriot manager was asked if he had noticed any changes in how the Red Devils are performing under the Dutchman.

Despite being 4-0 down at halftime in two of United’s eight Premier League games this season, Lennon believes the club has responded well to adversity under the former Ajax manager.

In addition to praising United’s mentality and performance following the 3-2 win at the GSP Stadium last Thursday, Lennon felt the twenty-time league champions should have won by a larger margin against Everton on Sunday.

Lennon said: “Over the last few years they’ve been very inconsistent, but I think from what I’ve seen and in my own opinion there’s a definite subtle change in the way their playing.

“Alright they didn’t get off to a great start and they then won a lot of games before the defeat in the derby, but the reaction against us – I thought their attitude was very good.

“And on Sunday against Everton, I thought they were excellent, and they looked very composed and not in a great deal of trouble and I thought they should have won the game by more.

“I’m seeing a different Man United now to the one that was a little bit sort of cataclysmic last year at times – I think they’ve got more composure about them.”

The former Celtic manager, who will take over at Old Trafford for the first time, also praised Real Madrid’s acquisition of five-time Champions League winner Casemiro.

“The midfield looks very strong – obviously the addition of Casemiro I think could be a great signing as the season progresses,” the Northern Irishman added.

“But I do see a huge improvement in their performance and mentality.”
